For the most part, if I'm going to consume breakfast, it's going to be bacon and eggs. However if I get the itch to relive my childhood and dive into a bowl of cereal, exists one that I could advise? In this video, Terry and I pit Catalina Crunch versus Perfect Keto.

  1. We wound up having to record this video twice because of microphone issues, which is another way of saying “Steve didn’t plugin the microphone”. As a result, I wound up consuming between 3 and 4 servings of cereal. My blood glucose went up 18 points, so “a gentle rise” but not a spike.

  2. Thanks to both of you for the review. I was “hooked” on the CC chocolate for a couple weeks but the fiber was an issue for me. I did like the taste, the peanut butter would probably be an addiction situation. Too much dental work to try the Perfect Keto ones 😂

  3. I’ve tried the Perfect Keto cereal as a snack, with heavy cream and as crumbs for a crust. Probably will not buy it or other ‘keto’ cereal again. It’s kind of a trigger food, very expensive, and too many carbs. Thanks for taking another one for the team!

  4. The peanut butter one sounds sort of good. I did like peanut butter cereal as a child , but I don’t really eat breakfast often enough to buy some.

  5. I don’t think it would be worth it enough to pay the high price for it. I don’t usually eat breakfast either. BUT!!! Thank you both for the review and for dressing the part for us! 😜

  6. Oh my … I tried the perfect keto chocolate cereal and it didn’t taste bad .. but it was like chewing on rocks … maybe .. if I pour my cereal .. go take my shower and come back and eat … Maybe ??? 😂

  7. When I need something crispy and crunchy, I like the Cinnamon Catalina Crunch. It’s good with almond milk as well. I’ve also tried the chocolate as well as the fruity. I like them most as a snack to munch on. Never heard of Perfect Keto cereal, but I have tried Magic Spoon and they’re pretty good too. For now, Catalina Crunch is my choice; plus I can get CC through Walmart.

    1. @Serious Keto I found it on sale at Pasadena Whole Foods for 6.99. also at a discount grocery chain for same $.Still an expensive snack- so I’ll stick to Guerrero Chicarones crackling🤣

  8. I tried the Perfect Keto Chocolate cereal. To me, it did not taste like chocolate at all – just sugar. But then my idea of the perfect chocolate is Lily’s 85% Dark Chocolate. And I’d rater eat bacon and eggs or steak and eggs any time.

PS – I always eat breakfast and often skip dinner. 😀

  9. I’m not big on cereal, but occasionally I do 1/4 cup of Catalina Crunch on yoghurt for some crunch.

  10. I like the crust for the cheesecake idea or…you could blend it up in the blender with low carb milk and low carb ice cream as a shake..💋🧚🏻‍♀️❤️🇺🇸

  11. Thankfully I don’t crave or even miss cereal much. When my grocery store gave me a free box it’s just too easy and convenient to eat it often to ‘get it out of the way’. 😄

  12. Ha! Was wondering if I had the right channel when I spotted the bathrobes. 😳😂 Your candid opinions always crack me up—that 2nd cereal you tried “almost tasted like nothing.” 🤣 Thanks to you both for your honesty.

  13. Great video Steve! I occasionally eat Catalina Crunch Cinnamon Toast. I like it. Costco has it in a 20 ounce bag. I think it’s around 12 bucks a bag. I’ve had their chocolate and I wasn’t crazy about it either.

    1. BREAKING NEWS: Catalina Snacks of Lebanon, IN, is recalling more than 300,000 certain ready-to-eat cereal packages and snack mix packages because of foreign material in the products, specifically metal. I found this article in Food Safety News dated March 16, 2023.

  14. Your face when your wife said she wasn’t a fan of the peanut butter!! LOL. I used to eat Captain Crunch Peanut Butter all the time as a kid, my fav! (Do you remember the roof of your mouth after eating it? 🤣)

  15. Thanks for the review! I was a big cereal eater before keto! I would put heavy whipping cream on these!

  16. I’m glad these ‘sweet treats’ serve a niche of keto followers, but for those of us where ANY sugary taste sets off the addiction I never knew I had to carbs-it makes it easier for me to pass up the very expensive cereals. Thanks for reviewing for us Steve!

    1. @Jeeps totally agree. The C.C. cinnamon was getting to be an addiction issue for me. I’m better of with bacon or cheese whisps

  17. Costco usually has big bags of the Cinnamon Catalina Crunch for a reasonable price…and sometimes on sale. I prefer that one, plus it’s way cheaper than buying in a regular grocery store. It’s great for just out of hand sweet crunchy snack and also for “graham cracker” crumbs for baking. We do stock up on it when it’s on sale. Like the other Catalina Crunch cereals, the cinnamon flavor is not very pronounced so it really does simulate graham cackers well.

  18. I like the Catalina Crunch mint chocolate as a snack with coffee. During this most dangerous time of year (Girl Scout cookie season) I can kind of convince myself they taste like thin mints.😆For a cereal substitute, I do like Magic Spoon but it’s not quite as good on the net carbs. I will say the taste of the milk after Magic Spoon is fantastic.

    1. Of the dozen or so bags of Catilina Crunch I’ve gone through, never had it as a breakfast meal in a bowl with milk. Always used it as a snack or sparingly as a topping for berries and cream. I like all their flavors, especially the fruity one that sort of seems like froot loops, but squares.

  19. Hi Steve ! The NuTrail Nut Granola (Costco) is really “clean” and tastes GREAT. Like you I don’t usually have breakfast. The NuTrail Nut Granola is an afternoon dessert for me !!

  20. I luv the robes to set the breakfast theme! but snickering because Terri’s hair looks so perfectly awesome – like she just came from the salon 😂. I wish that was MY “wake up” look!
